The Czech architect responsible for two of the UK’s most unusual buildings, Jan Kaplický, has died aged 71.
He designed the futuristic media centre that looms above Lord’s Cricket Ground’s Nursery End and the alien-like exterior of the Selfridges Building (pictured) at Birmingham’s Bull Ring shopping centre.
The award-winning architect once said, “Where is it written that buildings have to be boxes? People aren’t boxes.”
