Few top New Zealand cricketers are hesitant to sign contracts with NZC on fear over their tests next year with Australia might clash with IPL next year. IPL season 3 is expected to start on early April 2009 and test series against Australia extends to first week of April.
New Zealand Cricket Chief Justin Vaughan played it down that there are is no indication of player’s hesitancy in signing. He told that players have to sign before 27th July, 2009. He claimed that he is not aware of IPL dates and dates of Australian series too not finalized.
Brendon McCullum, Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori and Kyle Mills have taken part in lucrative IPL. Brendon McCullum was signed for $ 7, 00,000 and Jacob Oram signed for $ 6, 75,000.
Meanwhile, ICC has announced that there would not be permanent slot for IPL. Many of the cricketers quit their national commitments for lucrative IPL. But ICC is not accepting any proposal to give a slot to IPL.
