Result Day – 2:
Sri Lanka 275 for 3 (Dilshan 112, Samaraweera 45*, Zaheer 2-45) trail India 426 (Dravid 177, Welegedara 4-87) by 151 runs
India finished their 1st innings on Day 2 by scoring 426 runs at Ahmedabad and Rahul Dravid who batted well on Day 1 got out on Day 2 without scoring any run. Welegedara bowled well for Sri Lanka by taking four important wickets and it was good bowling performance from Sri Lanka on Day 2 to end Indian innings for 426. It was a huge disappointment for Indian fans who were expected India to score more than 500 runs and Dravid’s double century.
Sri Lanka opened their batting with Tillakaratne Dilshan and he became the first Sri Lankan to score a century in India since 1997 as Sri Lanka dominated day two of the first Test against India in Ahmedabad. But he got out for Zaher Khan during the final spell of Day 2, Mahela Jayawardene (36 not out) and Thilan Samaraweera (45 not out) were the unbeaten batsmen. Sri Lanka ended Day 2 by scoring 275 runs for the loss of three wickets.
