The older brother of world-famous cricket umpire David Shepherd, who died in October, has also died, the North Devon Journal reports.
Bill Shepherd, 71, was himself a respected cricketer and once scored a century at Lord’s for the MCC Young Cricketers.

The great and good of the cricket world gathered at a church in Westbury-on-Trym church to pay their respects to David Shepherd MBE, the Bristol Evening Post reports.

David Shepherd, one of cricket’s best loved characters, has died at the age of 68 from cancer.
He was appointed a First Class umpire in 1981 and established his reputation for fairness rapidly, officiating at the World Cup in 1983 and his first Test in 1985, sharing the field with Dickie Bird.

They will use the occasion to auction off a painting of him in a cricketing pose to raise money to help children in Hackney.
